The ITB delegation was led by Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Irwan Meilano, S.T., M.Sc., accompanied by Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI) Prof. Dr. Ir. Tutun Juhana, S.T., M.T., IPU, and Director of Partnerships Dr. Ir. Endra Gunawan, S.T., M.Sc. ITB’s participation in the 14th JWG formed part of its efforts to expand its global network with leading higher education and research institutions.

Université Paris-Saclay, currently ranked 70th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2026, is one of Europe’s largest higher education and research ecosystems. The institution was formed through the consolidation of universities, Grandes Écoles, and French national research organizations, including CNRS, CEA, INRAE, INSERM, ONERA, Inria, and IHES.

Paris-Saclay is renowned for its strengths in science, technology, engineering, and medicine, as well as in strategic fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and quantum technology.

Prof. Irwan Meilano said the collaboration would encompass several initiatives.

“As part of this collaboration, ITB and Université Paris-Saclay have agreed to develop various international academic programs, particularly undergraduate double-degree programs under a 2+2 scheme, master’s double-degree programs, student exchanges, joint PhD supervision, and executive education,” he said.

One of the key strengths of Paris-Saclay’s educational model is the integration of academic learning with industry experience. ITB students participating in undergraduate or master’s double-degree programs will have opportunities to undertake internships with Paris-Saclay’s industry partners, strengthening their professional competencies, global experience, and international networks.

In addition to degree programs, the two institutions discussed opportunities to develop project- and research-based student mobility programs, including capstone projects aimed at addressing societal challenges in areas such as energy, water, connectivity, and regional development. This scheme aligns with Paris-Saclay’s educational system, which encourages students to gain international experience during their studies.

The collaboration also opens opportunities to increase academic engagement among faculty members, including the involvement of Paris-Saclay lecturers as visiting professors at ITB, the development of joint research projects, and the strengthening of international publications.
