The agreement was signed by ITB Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, Prof. Ir. Lavi Rizki Zuhal, Ph.D., and Vice President of Tsinghua University, Prof. Huaqiang Wu. The signing ceremony was witnessed by university leaders and delegates from both institutions.

Prof. Lavi Rizki Zuhal stated that the partnership marked an important milestone in strengthening relations between ITB and Tsinghua University, built upon mutual trust, academic excellence, and a shared vision of creating tangible impacts through research and innovation.

He explained that the collaboration would focus on strategic areas, including energy, sustainability, medicine, regional and urban planning, and public policy.

“This collaboration also opens up broader opportunities for faculty members, researchers, and students from both institutions to work together, exchange ideas, and develop solutions to various global challenges,” Prof. Lavi said.

Meanwhile, Prof. Huaqiang Wu expressed his appreciation for ITB’s reputation as one of the leading universities in engineering and technology. He said the partnership would further strengthen academic cooperation between the two institutions through a seed funding scheme that Tsinghua University has implemented with several leading universities worldwide.

Under this research collaboration scheme, Tsinghua University selects only one institutional partner in each country, with ITB chosen as its sole partner in Indonesia.

He added that following the signing of the agreement, both universities would soon launch a call for proposals to support collaborative research projects, academic discussions, and faculty and student exchange programs.

ITB and Tsinghua University will develop joint research programs focusing on energy and sustainability, medicine, regional and urban planning, as well as public policy and management. The agreement also covers joint research funding, the establishment of a Steering Committee, the strengthening of international scientific publications, intellectual property management, and the development of partnerships in technology commercialization and industry collaboration.
